π§ How zombie curing discounts work
Curing a zombie villager is the best way to lower villager prices. The player who administers the cure receives a permanent discount on that villager's trades. The size of the discount depends on the item type, because each trade has its own price multiplier:
- High-multiplier trades (0.2) β enchanted books and gear, bells, explorer maps, saddles and horse armor, chainmail & leather armor, shields, and diamond tools. These get the largest discount: β20 emeralds (down to a 1-emerald minimum).
- Low-multiplier trades (0.05) β basic resource sells (wheat, coal, iron ingots, etc.) and cheap products. These get a smaller β5 emeralds discount.
Mechanically this comes from curing granting a permanent major-positive reputation, and the emerald price reduction equals that reputation times the trade's multiplier. The discount applies once β curing the same villager again does not stack a further discount. Villagers near the cured one get a smaller, temporary discount.
How to cure a zombie villager
- Get a splash potion of Weakness (or an arrow of Weakness) and a Golden Apple.
- Throw the splash potion at the zombie villager to apply Weakness.
- Feed it the Golden Apple (press use on it while holding the apple).
- Trap it somewhere safe β it will shake and convert back over a few minutes.
- Once cured, trade with it right away: the villager keeps its profession, and its permanent discount is locked in for you.
